Its super easy to get yourself setup and ready for Yoga, items 1 and 2 are essential but the rest are optional:

1: A reliable Yoga mat
A good Yoga mat will aid your experience and should not be too thick or too thin (around 4-5mm tends to work well). When too thin it may hurt your knees, when too thick it may throw off your balance!
Good grip is important so that you don’t slide away while trying to hold a pose! There is nothing worse than trying to hold your downward dog and instead watching it slide into a plank! Be sure to wipe the mat after each practice to care for it and keep it clean.
2: Comfortable, stretchy and non-restrictive clothing
Your clothing should allow free movement. Its fun to be fashionable by co-ordinating yoga wear but practical clothing is what you really need.
Baggy t-shirts may get in the way, some people prefer shorts to leggings. A good sports bra is essential for downward facing dog and some other inversion poses if this applies to you. As you start to practice you will get to know what works best for you.

3: Yoga blocks (x2) and a strap
Props can be very useful, especially in the early stages. There are some props that you might consider when you decide to progress with your practice such as blocks and a strap.
Blocks and straps can really help you with accessing and supporting certain poses and they are inexpensive. Later in your yoga journey these can be used to help you deepen poses.
4: A towel
For sweat! But you may also find it useful to fold and place it underneath your knees if they are or if they become sensitive.
Mat sized sweat towels have been invented too, which cover the entire mat and have grip on the underside. Some people really like them and others not so much.
The more you practice Yoga the more you will understand your setup requirements as this will be different for everyone. Have fun with it and enjoy your time on the mat!
